From Above

November 18, 2014

“A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed. It feels an impulsion. This is the place to go now.

But the sky knows the reasons and patterns behind all clouds. And you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons.”

Richard Bach

There is nothing quite like looking at your city from a distance, high above amidst the blue sky, to bring clarity and perspective. I feel very grateful to have the ocean on one side and the hills on the other. Each bring so much to my awareness, and so much peace to my being.

This was an absolutely perfect day. My husband and I set out on a little hills adventure, just the two of us, and discovered the most magical spot. Laid out before us was a large flattened rock inviting us to rest upon. Shaded by gum trees, and cooled by a gentle breeze, we escaped a scorching hot and windy day. As we sat mesmerised by the city from above, we felt miles away, though in reality only 30 minutes from our home. It’s amazing what a little change of scenery can do for one’s perspective and how refreshing it is for the soul.  I’ve been drawn to this special space again and again and feel so grateful to have found another magical energy spot right here in WA.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

Rising Sun

November 14, 2014

November in Perth is probably the windiest time of year here, especially those late afternoons anywhere along the coast. And I’ve just recently learnt we live in the 3rd windiest city in the world! For this reason, I’ve been trading in my sunset beach sessions lately for sunrises. And I’m not really a morning person, or at least I thought I wasn’t. Until, I actually found myself on that beach, so early in the morning. As my feet touched the sand, I felt a pulse of energy awaken me. And as the sun rose anew, I could feel the endless possibilities it brought with it. I was immersed in daydreams and imagining all kinds of wonder for my day. I happily shimmied along the shoreline watching the sun rise higher and become brighter with each passing moment. Each moment brought further awakening and I am definitely rethinking that morning person thing ;)

I was lucky enough to wear this divine Harriet Jane Sunrise silk dress on this very bright and early morning. This beautiful designer, based in Byron Bay, takes some breathtaking photos of nature and then takes it to the next level and combines these with her stunning designs to produce wearable art. Each design is made with recycled, organic or natural fabrics with state of the art digital printing technology to produce an exquisite piece of consciously made clothing. Not only am I in love with her pieces, I love that she celebrates nature through this creative process, bringing us all the beauty she captures, and inspiring us to take care of our precious earth.

Wherever you may be, I hope you all have time to experience the magic of the rising sun. I assure you it will awaken and renew your energy :)

With love and gratitude,

“See the world as if for the first time; see it through the eyes of a child, and you will suddenly find that you are free.” Deepak Chopra

This beach adventure was filled with rainbow orbs and incredible light. I felt so much like a child again. You know that abundantly joyful feeling of being ever present, simply shifting from moment to moment, following your excitement and zest for life. I want to bottle it up and have it with me everywhere I go. It’s freedom, it’s peace, it’s happiness…. Like Eleanora Duse said “If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive…”

Sandstorm

November 8, 2014

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” Vivian Greene

Having one of those stormy weeks and realising that no matter what storms pass through my life, I will embrace them, lovingly. Because they are me. And this is my life. And to really allow yourself to feel and validate the multitude of stormy emotions that can arise will bring you even faster through the eye of the storm and to the rainbow on the other side. Each of life’s beautiful experiences is a wonderful lesson, that brings us closer to peace. We can choose to embrace and learn the lessons or resist, ignore and repeat them. I find that meeting the pain (which is simply a painful thought) with a loving intention really helps me find the peace and gratitude once again.

Sending you all love and peace for those stormy days.

With love and gratitude,

New moon intention

October 24, 2014

With the new moon upon us, it’s a wonderful time to plant new seeds of intention. I’ve spent these waning weeks in reflection, gaining clarity, reassessing everything! Today I feel very clear as I set forth my intention to flow harmoniously with the pace of nature. I want to really experience all the moments of my life with peace and love, rather than thinking about how to get from here to there. And rather than a need to necessarily slow down, (which I kind of need too) it’s more about finding peace within the chaos. Adjusting my sails and moving at a more natural rhythm. I’ve spent some time looking within to dissolve those threads that drive me into stress. I’ve allowed those beliefs to show themselves and gently be defused. And now I’ve awakened clearer, lighter and with even more acceptance for myself. I’ve come to realise that I want to follow my joy and passion within each moment of my day. To honour myself for who I am and all that I value. To see my worth with all the blossoming love in my heart.

Now is the time to refine our intentions for each day that we live on this amazing planet. I encourage you to spend this new moon time imagining all that brings you happiness and fills your heart with joy. Follow your passions and let us all live a beautiful, kind and peaceful life :)

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

Grace and Flow

October 19, 2014

I moved like a gently flowing river, ever so gracefully embracing the currents….the wind gently caressed my skin, and the warm ocean water met my bare feet.

This divine afternoon I floated upon the golden sands in this most exquisite Saboskirt dress and goddess jewels from Grace Bijoux.  This entire outfit evoked so much light and grace within me. I felt extraordinarily feminine, fully embracing of my sensuality, and birthright of pure unconditional self love.

Sending so much love to you all xx

Fruiteatox

October 15, 2014

Rings – Don Biu | La Luna Rose | Bahgsu Jewels || Body chain – Grace Bijoux | Bikini – Andi Bagus || Photography – Bobby Bense

I’ve had the recent pleasure of trialling and reviewing the 28 day Fruiteatox. A beautiful herbal tea formula designed to encourage metabolic processes in the body. This means more energy, increased clearance of toxins, increased metabolism of important hormone messengers and neurotransmitters that help keep us mentally, emotionally and physically healthy.

It’s been 28 days now and I’m feeling lighter than ever thanks to Fruiteatox.  My energy has definitely improved and so has my sleep. I’m feeling more balanced, less mood swings, especially prior to my cycle, and improved digestion. And though I didn’t choose to partake in this program to lose weight, but rather to gain energy, it is wonderful for those looking to lose weight. The amazing combination of lemon oil, yerba mate and ginseng is the perfect adjunct to a healthy eating and exercise regime. It also does so much more, like improve skin health, digestive health and support your adrenal glands – these guys sit on your kidneys and are responsible for how you cope with stress.

This delicious tea comes as a day (lemon) time and night (orange) time formula. Bringing with it increased energy during the day and a restful, peaceful sleep at night. The herbs work harmoniously and gently to support the natural processes of the body.

If you are considering a cleanse or in need of a little extra oomph, I highly recommend this herbal tea as an adjunct to your health regime. Since I already eat a very clean and simple diet, this was the perfect little something I needed to step up my energy levels. This time of year, where we are transitioning into either summer here in the south, or winter in the north, we can use a little extra support to get our lymphatic systems moving.

Here are some additional naturopathic tips from me to support your overall wellbeing –

  • Dry skin brush. I can’t emphasise this enough. Not only will you have glowing skin, but the brushing movement on your skin will encourage the lymph and blood to circulate. This improves oxygenation and nutrition to all the cells of your body. It also encourages removal of congestion, immune complexes, and any other debri that might be clogging up the lymph fluids. By clearing out the lymph, and ensuring good hydration, with filtered water and herbal teas like Fruiteatox, you will feel fresher and more energised than ever.
  • Eat small, frequent meals. Overeating will cause fermentation of your food and upset the delicate balance of microbial flora that live harmoniously in your gut. This flora is responsible for creating and modulating vitamins and neurotransmitters that influence our thoughts and emotions, and even sleep. Read more about the gut and brain connection HERE.
  • As mentioned above anything that effects the delicate balance of microbial flora in the gut can potentially slow your metabolism. This includes too much sugar, junk food, alcohol, yeast foods, consuming allergenic or intolerant foods (dairy, corn, gluten etc), and stress. This is a very short list. Basically keeping everything in moderation is key. Up the raw veggies if you’ve had a few too many wines the night before or a candy binge. And consider taking good quality probiotics for support. As a general non specific all rounder I like Bioceuticals Ultrabiotic 45.

Please note – these are general guidelines and not intended for those with severe chronic illness where they require individualised support and treatment. Always consult with your doctor and/or naturopath to ensure if a product/treatment is right for you.

So for the past 28 days I’ve been taking my thermos with me everywhere filled with my delicious Fruiteatox. Here are some pics from a recent beach trip feeling ever so alive and refreshed. The simple act of drinking the tea each day, something so easy and simple, has been so nurturing for my being. It’s an act of love and a message to myself that I am worthy. I think for mothers who are constantly in demand to take care of the needs of small children, these small acts are more important than ever.

I hope I inspire some of you beautiful souls to make a small step towards improving your health today. There’s no need to make huge big changes all at once that are difficult to sustain. But rather one small step towards whole health. It might be to decrease your sugar intake, take a walk each day, dry skin brush, cut the coffee and switch to herbal tea….whatever it may be, acknowledge the act itself as love for yourself. Sending love and wishing you all an abundance of health and happiness.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

Unique YOU

October 9, 2014

“Knowing yourself as the awareness behind the voice is freedom” – Eckhart Tolle

An invigorating and super charged afternoon beach walk carrying the possibility of an impending storm (both outside and within) beautifully transformed into a a very clear and still moment of insight. Amidst the ocean winds and cool air I fell into a place of quiet sanctuary. I experienced a deepening of self, of love, an expansion of my heart. I felt the interconnectedness of all. I can’t explain why, only that when I am still amidst the ever changing elements I am transformed by the moment. Each adventure to the beach brings it’s own unique experience and I continue to give thanks to the ocean for it’s healing gifts.

My insight – There is nothing more beautiful to me than when we fully embrace who we are. To embrace, LOVE, celebrate and share our unique, quirky ways, our ups and downs, our strengths and vulnerabilities is not only inspiring but a gift to all. To love and accept all sides, all aspects, both yin and yang, that make us who we are. I am sometimes happy and sad, loving and fearful, courageous and scared…there is no shame in being human and feeling all these emotions. Embrace it all with love. This is what it is to be human. These emotions are rooted in the mind, in the thoughts, a place that is both who we are and not who we are. Here we own the key to our emotional freedom and to choose the life we want to live. We are all different, unique and amazing and at our core we are essentially the same. We are one. We are beautiful. We are all enough.

Make sure you check out Da-sh & Dol…an awesome spot I found for the girl looking for something a little different, a little unique, just like her.

Adorn yourself in all that reflects you, your soul style, your essence…adorn yourself in what you love! And above all – LOVE who you are, and feel the shift in your life as that love resonance draws all that is LOVE into your life.

With deep love and gratitude,

Helen xx

Solitude

October 4, 2014

“The greatest thing in the world is to know how to belong to oneself.” – Michel de Montaigne

As much as I love to be around people and their inspiring energies, I also deeply yearn for solitude….And perhaps it’s in part my Finnish heritage, though I think it’s more than that….it’s that time I get to refuel, to simply be and go deeper within, to reflect and create and imagine from a place of complete stillness.

These photos were taken on a quiet still morning in Bali at the magical Kubu beach at Ayana Resort. There wasn’t a soul in sight as I walked along the beach allowing my connection to the earth to centre and rejuvenate my being. I feel so thankful to know myself, to understand with love and compassion the needs I have, and to take action to care for them. Every single act of self love builds my energy stores and sets my vibration soaring to a place where only complete wellness can exist. For those suffering from illness of any sort, I urge you to step out in nature, somewhere peaceful, somewhere still, where it’s just you and the elements. Allow this space and experience to refuel your being and bring healing to every cell in your body.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx
