Loving Life

July 4, 2014

“Dare to love yourself as if you were a rainbow with gold at both ends” – Aberjhani

I’ve been asked quite a lot recently about finding peace and love, so I want to share just a little in this post that I feel may be of help to some of you.

Each day I wake up I consciously choose to focus my thoughts upon LOVE. I focus my attention on all that I love, all that is working in my life, all that brings me joy. The more attention I give to it, the more I create and amplify my experience of this in my life. When I catch myself headed down a path of stressful worrying thoughts, I stop. I look at the layers that hold them in place. I provide these painful thoughts with the loving space they deserve. I question their validity, I imagine how I’d feel without them. I discover a blissful state of peace and lightness without them. I wonder if they are in fact really true and I look deeper at their roots. I dig these up and plant new loving, peaceful seeds in their place. Ones that will blossom and bring forth the great fruits of life. I feel a lightness wash over me as I empty out those stressful thoughts that really don’t need to be on repeat anymore. When we run the same painful programs over and over in our minds, we only cause more suffering to ourselves. We can choose what we wish to believe, and what we wish to think and feel. It takes some practice firstly to become aware of these thoughts, to question them, and to realise that you yourself are the one who can set free your mind and allow peace and love to flow in.

Each day practice the art of forwarding your focus to all that is magical, magnificent, amazing and wonderful. Focus on what you have with love and with gratitude. I guarantee you, the more you do this, the better you will feel, and the more awesomeness you will naturally attract into your life through the universal law of attraction.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

Of Sand and Sea

June 27, 2014

I am of sand and sea, if you look for me, this is where I’ll be.

Most days are now spent fulfilling my dream of styling and creating outfits and visions that I spontaneously dream up. Venturing off to the sand and sea where I can so easily centre myself and share my love and light through my images, is an absolute joy and privilege. Something that you guys might not all know is that each time I take photos, I find that centre point within, that stillness. I fill this space with love until it is overflowing. Love for self, for you, for all beings and for our mother earth. As I emerge I channel this love through my being in the hopes that even my images themselves will bestow upon others love, healing, inspiration and passion for life.

I find I’m almost needing to pinch myself lately…I am actually living my dream. And I wouldn’t be able to do this without all the love and support I get from you guys.

This post is for you. For all of you. For taking the time to visit my blog, to comment, to email me, to share your ups and downs, for everything. I love you guys.

And you may have noticed a few changes to my blog at the moment. I’m currently in the process of transferring and transforming it over the next few weeks. I’m so excited for this change and to bring you all a greater user experience when you visit.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

Twilight Magic

June 22, 2014

Moved by the beauty of the changing light, tears welled up inside. Tears of joy, gratitude, of love. For all the magic that we are blessed to witness each and every day. Look for it. It’s all around you. Open your heart to the rhythm of life, feel the heartbeat of the great mother that homes us, sing your song of joy as you twirl and dance in the twilight.

This beach adventure was nothing short of magical. A wintery evening that started off cool, warmed as the wind completely stilled, and the sun shone through the clouds. So much light filled the sky as the sun was setting. I was brought to tears in a deep reverent moment of pure love.

Adorned in beautiful Nightcap Clothing lacey crochet, Heart Majestic + Embella mermaid jewels, with some twinkling gypsy love from the awesome Child of Wild. My amazing custom Wilde flower vintage boots, made by native Santa Cruz artist Emily Morris, were swapped for my Forever Soles barefoot sandals as I danced upon the twilight sands.

Take in every precious moment. Breath in love and breathe out gratitude.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

“Your sacred space is where you find yourself again and again” – Joseph Campbell

There is no question in my mind that our environment shapes us, that our surrounds impact us all the time. The colours, textures, the space, the scents, the elements, all influencing how we feel.

Recently I was lucky enough to visit the exquisite home of Losari Home and Woman for a photoshoot. Kirsty, the beautiful, soulful woman behind Losari, brings forth her amazing sense of style and aesthetic in every nook and cranny of this magnificent home. My childlike joy was overwhelming as I explored her home and discovered so much beauty. I must say I really felt so at home here and full of inspiration and creativity. My mood was elevated the moment I stepped into this divine, open space. The perfect place for a photoshoot. I had more fun on this shoot than any of my previous shoots. It definitely helped that this lady also knows how to make an incredible g+t haha! ;)

A big thanks to Kirsty for opening up her home and heart to us. This lovely mama has an amazing online shop you can check out HERE and you too can add a little beauty into your own home.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

“The creative adult is the child who has survived” – Ursula K. Le Guin

I came across this quote this morning and instantly fell in love. The timing was of course perfect. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the social tenets of how one is supposed to look, dress and act at a certain age. I’m coming up to 38 this year and I know I don’t really look my age physically, but I think it’s more than that. I don’t act my age. More to the point, I don’t act in a way that adheres to the general social expectations of a 38 year old woman. I write my own life story, and in mine there is no age limit on how one can act, look, dress, be. I’m unconventional, imaginative, passionate, creative, naive, sensitive, vulnerable, open hearted and I will always believe in magic. I love spontaneity and I live in the present. And best of all, I’m at my happiest when I’m in my little vortex creating what I love with all my heart and soul. All the wonderful characteristics of a child.

When I look at my children they remind me of this ability we have to tap into our creative selves. To open the doorway to joy in an instant. Bless these sweet angels for reminding us of the true beauty of life.

Days spent immersed in creating art, drawing, styling, writing, playing my guitar, drumming, walking barefoot on the beach, swimming naked in the ocean, dreaming, exploring, falling in love, morning cuddles, dancing under the moonlit sky…..these are just a few of my favourite things in this amazing life. So grateful.

I love taking time each day to reflect upon all that I love and all that the moment has to offer us.

Well it’s safe to say I am completely jewellery obsessed! haha! My collection seems to be growing at a pretty insane rate. Ever thankful for the abundance, there is one particular designer’s work I have been coveting the most lately.

I recently came across Goldbarr on Instagram, as I was randomly searching with the hopes of discovering something really different that would answer the call of my heart and creative yearnings. And I found it. All those statement necklaces are absolute perfection. The unique details, excellent quality and craftsmanship, along with middle eastern/asian/indian and californian influences, makes Goldbarr a must have for any serious jewellery lover. They are really fun to stack too, if you want to take your statement necklace to that next level neck party. It can get heavy around the neck lol, but it’s jaw dropping, show stopping amazingness. I love discovering new labels that excite my senses and feed my creative soul.

These photos were taken one beautiful late afternoon, frolicking on the beach like an ocean gypsy, I styled my Goldbarr with my easy to wear and layer free people shred dress, some gypsy jingly belt bling, and a whole pile of vintage silver rings. Throw on some contrasting black boots, bag, hat and jacket and head off to your favourite festival. I was perfectly content though to throw my boots off, feel the sand on my feet, drink in the salty ocean air and make the most of that perfect temperate easterly breeze.

For anyone wanting to add a little Goldbarr into their life, they have offered all my followers a special discount code ‘OCEANGYPSY’ to use at checkout which will give you 15% off your order. If you spend over $350, you will also receive a free Maldives necklace.YAY! Love sharing the love with you all. If any of you end up adding some Goldbarr to your collection I’d so love to see your pics on Instagram. Tag me #gypsylovinlight so I can see :) Thank you! Love you all soooo much!! xx

Silver Light

Sailing the boat of silver light,

The moon-beauty is fast approaching me

The sky is vibrating with sweet and melodious songs

The birds are flying beyond the horizon

To an unknown land.

All my hopes are flying without any destination.

Slowly my life’s evening sets in

Sri Chinmoy

These images were taken a couple of weeks ago now, during a late afternoon stroll along the beach with my beloved husband before our dinner date that evening. The silvery light was fading ever so quickly, the way it does as we move deeper into fall. The reflections of light, the crisp air, the roaring sea….it all stirred at the beginnings of winter.

The evening called for my favourite Sea Dreamer romper. The perfect trans-seasonal piece and so great for layering. I had the chance to wear some divine bright silver jewels from Anna Beck and Dogeared Jewelry. I must say I really love that contrast of black and bright silver. It added a touch of glamour to my bohemian look, and was perfect for me to take out from the beach to a special dinner date with my husband. A little St. Eve Jewelry gypsy belt to jingle my way through the night, and I was set. We had such a beautiful evening together. Always such precious times that revive us as parents, partners, lovers and friends.

This post is dedicated to my husband, Bobby, the man who so willingly gives so much of his time and energy to help create this blog of mine. He is my amazing and talented photographer, the beautiful man who captures my essence and brings it to life, so I may share this with you all. He does all of this so humbly, never asking for credit or anything in return. He knows how happy it makes me and how much I love styling. What a wonderful man he is. I am so blessed.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

LIVE by the SUN, LOVE by the MOON ☽

LIVE by the SUN, LOVE by the MOON…..these words are so appropriate for me right now. I’m living and loving life to the fullest, flowing with the rhythms, feeling the interconnectedness… and ever grateful for all that I have. My beautiful family, the incredible opportunities and experiences that continue to flow into my life, to have time to feed my soul and express my creativity. I feel a gratitude list coming….haha! It may be the cooler weather, or that so much change is upon me, but I feel so grateful for this new phase of my life, this transitional time that I’m in right now. I see myself a little like a caterpillar creating my cocoon once again, weaving it with love to protect and nurture myself, as I gear up to transform and take flight. It’s going to be a big year, I can feel it in my bones. It actually already is a BIG year! My blogging journey has become a full time career in a matter of months. I’m absolutely loving it all so much, though with something so big and new in my life, whilst juggling being a mother, healer and wife at the same time, it’s so important for me to remain mindful to move along at my own pace. This way I won’t crash, and I will continue to love all the amazing experiences I am so blessed to enjoy in this life. The beautiful synergy and balance of the sun and moon are a constant reminder to me to choose a healing pace in life and walk to the beat of the great mother.

With love and gratitude,

Helen xx

Hobo + Hatch

A few weeks ago…or maybe even a month now (WOW!) I had the pleasure of visiting the Hobo + Hatch pop up shop down south in the beautiful town Cowaramup, in the Margaret River wine region. The vibe and beauty of this town and shop was so relaxing…I didn’t want to leave! If you get the chance to stop by on your travels it’s a must! So many of my favourite labels like Rue Stiic + Arrow Divine all in the one place. And what a space it is! So perfectly decked out with peacock chairs, divine tapestries, worldly jewels and cow skulls. See pics below!! I was lucky enough to pick up one of their yakadiyak wool/cotton shawls and it’s been keeping me warm and cosy during this sudden seasonal shift right into winter! And not only are they divine, each purchase supports communities in Nepal. “By purchasing from our Yakadiyak range you’ve helped make a small difference in the lives of others. We will continue to donate our time & money to the Nepalese community that touched our hearts & forever changed our soul” – Leona, Hobo + Hatch. Nothing better than wearing conscious clothing. Feels soooo good in so many ways :))))

These photos featuring this beautiful scarf, were taken a couple of weeks ago when summer was still hanging around for one last party :) The golden light in the afternoon seems to intensify during this time of year. The sunsets are so brilliant and deep, just like the autumn leaves. It’s yet another magical time of year with so much beauty to be thankful for.
